Review contributed by Sindi Kunkle: "The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner begins in the late 1970's with a man being put to death in the Texas electric chair for murdering children, one of which is 4 year old Meagan. A few years later a little girl named Melanie is adopted by Meagan's parents. As the story goes on we learn that Melanie is the killer's daughter! Throughout the many twists in the plot we learn the story of what really happened 25 years ago and how Melanie became the adopted daughter of a Boston surgeon and his wife. Lisa Gardner is such a talented and imaginative writer!"

BILLIONAIRES, BULLETS, AND EXPLODING MONKEYS

Review contributed by Sindi Kunkle: "Billionaires, Bullets and Exploding Monkeys written by Mike Attebery is an action-packed book. I could see a movie being made out of this book. I enjoyed reading this story. It is about a billionaire that gave money to a university for a research project. He wanted the scientists to develop a type of substance that would rid an area of disease via a chemical bomb. The day he decides to go to the university to check on his research project is the same day the university has some unexpected guests. It would seem these guests are also interested in the project, but for a different reason."

PROOF OF HEAVEN

I started reading "Proof of Heaven" last night. It's a true story about a neurosurgeon who dies for a period of time and claims that he visited heaven and he can prove it. It's pretty interesting so far, and I'll finish the book but already I am skeptical since he's in a coma. A coma isn't dead..and so it seems to me anything that occurs while you're in a coma is brain activity and not neccessarily afterlife. Right? Maybe he'll convince me. I'll let you know.

Signs of Seven Trilogy

"I read my first Nora Roberts trilogy and I loved it! I cannot wait to dive into more of her books. I read the "Signs of Seven Trilogy" which consists of Blood Brothers, The Hollow, and The Pagan Stone. The story begins with three boys that all share the same birthday going into the woods to camp out on their tenth birthday. During their camp out they decide to swap blood so that they would be "Blood Brothers". This ritual unleashes an evil force that returns every seven years to destroy their beloved hometown. Twenty-one years later this legend of a town possessed by demons attracts a female reporter who then gets involved with destroying the evil force, along with two of her friends. The six of them work together to attempt to save this lovely New England town. I loved the way the characters were developed. I really cared about them and the evil they had to face. " -Sindi Kunkle

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs uses real photographs of strange people to tell its story of a mysterious island, an abandoned orphanage and a strange collection of very curious photographs. As the story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here--one of whom was his own grandfather--were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow--impossible though it seems--they may still be alive. i enjoyed reading this fantasy. I found it to be light reading and very entertaining." -Sindi Kunkle

NIGHT CIRCUS -Erin Morganstern

"I read Night Circus by Erin Morganstern over the summer. It is about a circus that just magically appears and disappears in town. It has a black and white big top and all performers are dressed in black and white. It is only open at night. As I read this book, I kept thinking it would make a beautiful movie. this book takes place in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There are two older magicians that make a wager on two children that can perform magic. this is an entertaining book. I didn't love it, but I enjoyed reading it." -Sindi Kunkle
